Well let's jump right in. As you have probably heard the two talented artists Size 8 (born again) and Willy Paul have teamed up to release a song, sorry Remix. Yes I didn't know there was an original version too but turns out there is. Now I have to say that as a Dj I enjoy Willy Paul songs because... well people love them. As for size 8 well who doubts her Talent?
Tam Tam remix for those in the information diaspora is basically a song that talks about finding "the one." The bible says in Proverbs 18:22 He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the LORD. They in their wisdom found it wise to tel you this albeit in a twisted way.
Pluses
1. If the buzz around this track is anything to go by, then this will be a hit, a club banger perhaps. It had 12k views on YouTube by the second day. could go viral.
2. The beats are nice, the video better so if you are not paying attention you will love this.
3. Nobody, not even me, doubts their vocal prowess and they do not disappoint.
4.After Pitson's Lingala ya Yesu hit its expected that the trend will continue this track definitely keeps up with the pace.
Minuses
1.This is supposed to be a Gospel Song. Kenyans we have to redefine what that is. The fact that you mention the word God in the song does not mean it is. Other than the line "ooh ni Mungu atakupa wewe" (its the lord who will grant you{love/wife}) by Size 8 in the song, I am yet to know how it is Gospel.
2. I am still trying to figure out the message in the song with a lot of men named with their wives. the lyrical content is wanting. Kenyan Musicians please change try taking time and giving thought into your content if we are to keep up with the internationals.
3.The idea of having a signature of singing by Willy Paul is beginning to be predictable. While it may sell it will bore out the listeners so fast.
4. I know once you listen to the song you are going to ask yourself what is the message? Size 8 outlines them. If you want love;
i) Don't look for two {partners} (usitafute wawili)
ii) Ask the LORD (Muombe mwenyezi)
iii) Don't hang yourself (Usijitie Kitanzi)
iv) If you forget the LORD you will kick yourself (ukisahau Mwenyezi utajipiga mateke)
I leave the message for your own assessment.
5. I am a subscriber to the school of thought give Caesar what belongs to....and to God what .... If you chose to be a "Gospel Musician" as we define it in Kenya live up. The place where they mention Politicians and their spouses then reach Kalonzo Musyoka and say "Hatujui!"(we do not know) raises questions. For instance what was the intention of that? or Was Google down you couldn't search? or Did you try to make fun of him?
6. The whole song doesn't make sense. You asking how to find love while singing it's sweet ie Tam Tam. You sing about having spouses you are left out but some how you singing about love. How did you come by this knowledge?
Verdict
This is a good song, a good job by Jumbo sounds, Young Wallace and Sammy Dee thumbs up. I gotta acknowledge the wardrobe Mimi. That said the fact that this song will hit does not mean it was properly done. I give it a four out of ten because much more could have been done. dear artists show us you have grey matter between your ears. Make us think. This idea of having an idea and running with it before properly thinking must stop. One more thing, STOP advertising your previous songs in your current ones if they do not make sense.
This is the said Video here you can watch it then tell me if you agree with my opinion or you are of a contrary. See you soon in the next post. Leave a comment, don't be shy share ooh and follow me on twitter @Louislorc or Facebook Louis Lorc
